The terms that govern our website and our services.

Last updated: May 2025

About these terms

These terms and conditions set out the basis on which Swanage & Dorset Scaffolding and Roofing Ltd (trading as SwanDor, “we”, “us” or “our”) provides information through this website and supplies scaffolding and roofing services to you. We are a company registered in England & Wales. By using this website or engaging our services, you accept these terms. Please read them carefully and contact us at info@swandor.co.uk if anything is unclear.

Using our website

The content on this website is provided for general information only and does not constitute advice on which you should rely. While we make reasonable efforts to keep the information up to date, we make no representations, warranties or guarantees that the content is accurate, complete or error-free. You agree not to:

  • Use the website in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or any server connected to it
  • Copy, reproduce or redistribute our content without our written permission

Quotes and estimates

Any quote we provide is based on the information available to us at the time and is valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. A quote does not form a binding contract until we have confirmed your booking in writing. If the scope of work changes, or if conditions on site differ materially from those described to us, we may need to revise the price and will discuss this with you before proceeding.

Our services

We will carry out all work with reasonable care and skill, in line with relevant industry standards and good practice. Our scaffolders are CISRS trained and our work is fully insured. We will agree timescales with you in advance, but these may be affected by weather, access, the supply of materials, or other factors beyond our reasonable control. We will keep you informed of any expected delays.

Your responsibilities

To allow us to complete the work safely and on time, you agree to:

  • Provide safe and reasonable access to the property and the work area
  • Confirm that you are the owner of the property, or have the owner's permission for the work
  • Obtain any necessary permissions, such as a pavement or highway licence, where we have advised these are required (we can arrange these on your behalf where agreed)
  • Not interfere with, alter, or allow others to alter, any scaffolding we have erected

Payment

Payment terms will be set out in your quote or invoice. Unless agreed otherwise, invoices are due within 14 days of the invoice date. For larger projects we may request a deposit or stage payments, which we will agree with you in advance. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable.

Cancellations

If you are a consumer and the contract was agreed at your home or remotely (for example by phone or email), you may have the right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask us to begin work within this period and then cancel, we may charge for work already carried out. To cancel, please contact us at info@swandor.co.uk or call 01929 421 999.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or for any loss arising from your failure to follow our reasonable instructions. Our work is fully insured and we hold appropriate public liability cover.

Complaints

We want you to be happy with our work. If something is not right, please contact us as soon as possible at info@swandor.co.uk so we can put it right. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 5 working days and to resolve them promptly and fairly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales. We may update these terms from time to time; the version published on this page at the time you engage our services is the version that applies.
